Intelligent Modelling Unit (IMU™)

R2 has developed a revolutionary new approach to process modeling and pattern recognition, which is applicable to virtually any automated process. The Intelligent Modeling Unit (IMU™) captures the behavior of a process by building empirical models based on historical data. Models are used to detect deviation from the expected behavior. Deviations are catalogued into signatures to form patterns that are used to identify problems.

IMU_1The runtime version of IMU can be added transparently to existing versions of EMOS to provide extended capabilities. Models are executed in conjunction with EMOS to encompass the whole process and to supervise various aspects of production. Models and patterns evolve and improve over time.

The Early Detection Engine (EDE) is a perfect example of the capabilities provided by IMU. Each single cell of an electrolyzer is modeled to provide deviation detection with a precision of ±30mV for the whole operating range. Each model is tuned on a regular basis to reflect changes in the cell assemblies and component evolution.

IMU is offered as a product and can be used by any customer for modeling their processes. When resources for developing models are limited, R2 can offer its experience, expertise, and tools to elaborate custom solutions to specific problems.
