Optimization

For several years now, R2 has been continuously involved in R&D projects geared towards optimizing processes with complex multidimensional non-linear relationships. Using our proprietary technology, R2 targets the chlorine industry to demonstrate that as much as 5% energy savings can be achieved using EMOS and its optimization tools.

• The Production Cost Optimization Module (PCOM) is a real-time process optimization module that identifies the most profitable operating parameters based on actual economic and production criteria and advises the plant operators to apply them. As a result the overall production costs are minimized, taking into account the price and consumption of various energy sources.
• The Load Distribution Module (LDM) optimizes the utilization of all electrolyzers in a plant (and/or on several sites) according to their individual performances and specific constraints such as: production demand, power price, load change restriction, etc. As a result the overall specific power costs are minimized.

As an additional benefit, EMOS can detect process deviations or anomalies in real-time by constantly comparing the model predictions with the actual process parameters, allowing you to avoid operating conditions which can lead to the irreversible damage of components, cause high production losses, and incur costly repairs.
